scgc.jpg (99671 bytes) With the takeover of the Monasavu dam by landowners after the civilian coup in May 2000, the Fiji Electricity Authority suffered major supply problems. For weeks, for example, the power in Suva City was provided on a grid, i.e. every one hour the power went of in a certain area, then on again after an hour. Luckily, InfoTECH is near the CWM Hospital, we hardly had any power outages. The SCGC had no UPS and the FoxPro databases really got badly corrupted.

It is extremely sad that later our relationship with the Sugar Cane Growers Council got sour because of politics.

rbf.jpg (94411 bytes) The training was conducted in their training room, right on top of Suva's tallest buildings.
gtz.jpg (129796 bytes) Evelyn has left the country in August 2003 and is now back in Germany.
pcgov_ref.jpg (70389 bytes) We have also organised a website maintenance training session for them. The most famous participants were: Mahendra Pal Chaudhry (the deposed Prime Minister), Tupeni Baba (a deposed minister), Dr. Ganesh Chand (also a deposed minister who later was updating the website), Dr. Atu Emberson-Bain (now a senator) and Lekh Ram Vaheshnoi (a deposed minister).
strafregister.jpg (103329 bytes) My excerpt from the Swiss central criminal records register. It is always required for a work permit in Fiji.
fntc_ttt.jpg (64899 bytes) FNTC is now called TPAF (Training & Productivity Authority of Fiji). Because I am an expatriate I can't be registered as a FNTC-accredited trainer.
bil_ftib98.jpg (59393 bytes) The "Exporter of the Year Award" is a prestigious annual competition. We were proud of their win in 1998 (I think it was the third one since 1995 or so - but one thing is for sure: I did help them achieving their first award).
train_fsm.jpg (71299 bytes) It was a delightful pleasure to offer this short-term "crack" course for them. It was probably after this event when I coined the "task-oriented" computer workshops.
train_panelpak.jpg (70616 bytes) I later got acquainted with both Reg and Jean. We proposed the village house-boat idea to the Fiji Trade & Investment Board. It is extremely sad for me that they had to close down operations because of a crooked village chief.

train-basicindustries.jpg (46462 bytes) Basic Industries is one of the larger companies in Fiji. It now belongs to the Fijian Holdings Limited.
