Probably the last photo
anyone took of the block housing Morris Hedstrom, Post
Fiji, Air Fiji, a liquor shop and a bank. In the morning
hours of 2 February the entire block burned down. Arson
is suspected.

This is the plane which
brought us back to Nausori Airport. The flight only
takes 12 minutes. I asked the pilot, a young Fijian
bloke, about his salary: it's over F$80'000.

The underwater world just
in front of the Lawaki Beach House. No, this picture was
not taken by me but by Helen Sykes, a marine conservationist.
It shows a linkia blue sea star next to another coral
formation. |
 |
Believe it or not, but all
this is grown in the backyard of the Lawaki Beach House.
Isn't it delicious looking? |

A typical picture of

"mini-resort", the Lawaki Beach House on Beqa
Island. |

Semisi (aka Sam) doing a
BBQ. He is a native Fijian but has lived in Switzerland
for many years and acquired the Swiss citizenship. This
means, like me, he has to apply for a work permit (!) in
Fiji to run his and Christine's hospitality business. |
